“YOU must wake and call me early, call me early, mother dear;
To-morrow ’ll be the happiest time of all the glad new-year,—
Of all the glad new-year, mother, the maddest, merriest day;
For I ’m to be Queen o’ the May, mother, I ’m to be Queen o’ the May.”
Beltane Bacchanalia at Catherine Lombardi’s with Olivia, Bryan, Jow and Rich. I made corsages/boutonnieres for everyone and a crown for myself. We had a crystal punch bowl full of delicious cognac laced delights and a feast of antipasto that included wild boar salami. Beltane Part Two started at Babo Teahouse and then onto The Brooklyn Museum of Art with JohnM for Capoeira, Morris Dancers, The Feminist Art Wing/The Dinner Party, drum circles, djs and vodka.

It was wonderous. Especially wonderous: The TinyGrandson there with his grandmother, zipping around the table, exclaiming how cool it was while she explained that this is a timeline of how we rose up in TG language.

Marvelous.
I love the idea of boutonnieres and corsages for Beltane/May Day, by the way. We think of them as appropriate only for Proms and Weddings these days; but really they’re an everyday way to make a marvel of your life. And for the arrival of spring, it makes a good deal of sense to have a corsage or a sprig of spring attached to your person. Brilliant.
