For April’s birthday, Jow and I gave her the choice between being a country mouse or a city mouse. I thought for sure she’d want to knock around St. Mark’s in NYC and check out a new restaurant, but to my surprise, she opted for farmer’s markets with cinnamon popovers as big as a fist, dark chocolates filled with whiskey, a magical garden where we got purple basil, jagged lavender, ginger mint and roman chamomile, restaurants with more lovely whiskey and slab bacon and tiny shops filled with all kinds of delights. It was a really lovely day.
