Where would you like to see the Occult Blogosphere head for 2015? What topics do you think have been flogged to death?
For me, I would like to see more, well, glamour in people’s posts. I’m not talking glamour like who wore what to the Oscars (in this case) but that sense of wonder and awe. The joy of new experiences, more sharing about your personal life and how it affects your magical one, deeper wordier posts with more research to give everyone else new opportunities for exploration.
Flogged to death . . .I didn’t realize how sticky that was until I posted it and then had to answer it myself! ;p Really, more than anything it’s been a lack of new information and new experiences and new voices that I notice more than anything else. I think more than anything, it’s the unwillingness to disclose (personal life, specifics of a practice, etc) which leads to a repetitiveness in posting. I get it, we’re Witches and Occultists, you can’t share everything (so I’m told) but if you’re going to blog . . .well, blogging is both the personal and the political if you want to be really juicy.

Hmm…
Given that I’m (kinda-sorta) part of the occult blogosphere, this is a bit like “Exactly how much of my money am I willing to put where my mouth is?”… What I’d like to see is more bioregional-animistic stuff, more or less. What does your year-wheel look like as (to come up with a fictional example) a Goddess Traditionalist who lives in Aukland NZ or a Vanitruer living in the Bronx, or whatever, how do you connect your seasonal rites with the landscape and Spirits of Place around you? How do you interact with your Neighbours? Do you have special relationships with particular plants or non-human animals or non-corporial people or minerals (or, or, or) that are local to your area, and how did those relationships develope? How do you honour your deities, your ancestors, your local spirits, your allies, (you name) and why do you honour them in the ways that you do?
So… pretty personal stuff, all-told.
Also, big surprise, I’m interested in hearing more about Sex/Magic and Sacred/Mysteries because… well, you know me. 😉 That’s stuff’s always been part of it, even before I knew it was part of it. 🙂 I’d like to hear more about ecstatic experiences, how to facilitate them, how to set yourself up to let them happen to you, that sort of thing. 🙂
Again with the pretty personal, amirite?
I let a fair bit out in my blog posts, but so much of what I write on Urban Meliad is, well, recipe stuff… It’s “Hey, let’s try canning This New Vegetable!” and I’m totally stoked about it and… it’s not exactly baring my soul to talk about it. Just kitchen geekery with bonus devotional offerings. So we’ll see. 🙂
